In today’s fast-paced life, our mind is often very busy and distracted. This can be exhausting, stressful, and robs us of our mental space and clarity. This sublime meditation on the clarity of the mind is deeply relaxing and empowering. Through it, we gain deep insight into the flexible and limitless nature of our own mind. This in turn helps us to understand through our own experience how to actualize our potential for lasting happiness and freedom. By accessing the pure, clear nature of our mind, we gain the freedom to respond to our thoughts and feelings in the most constructive possible manner.

During the retreat, it is always quiet and our meditation sessions are as silent as possible beyond the usual chanted prayers and guidance. Outside of sessions, people have the freedom to choose to be silent if they wish or to talk quietly and meaningfully with each other if they prefer.

This retreat is suitable for everyone, regardless of previous meditation experience. Everyone can meditate according to their own capacity.


The Clarity of Mind retreat will be held at the Mount St. Francis Retreat Centre near Cochrane, conveniently located just northwest of Calgary.

Note regarding COVID: Mount St. Francis provides a safe environment for our retreat. Our mediation space can accommodate 20 with two-meter spacing, but we will only have 10 participants.  Meals will be served with two people to a table to maintain social distancing. Rooms are private.

Grounds: Situated on almost 500 acres, the retreat centre provides an occasion to enjoy the beauty of the foothills, with a view overlooking the Rocky Mountains. Pathways on the grounds allow opportunities for reflection, exercise, and contemplation between meditation sessions.

Accommodations: Simple, private rooms contain a single bed, desk, and sink. There are a few rooms available with twin or double beds upon request. There is no need to bring a sleeping bag or bedding: bedding and towels are provided. Bring any personal items and toiletries you may need.

Mobile phones: During retreats, everyone is encouraged to limit distracting activities, especially the use of mobile phones and digital devices to enhance their meditative experience and discover the profound benefits of meditation.

What to bring: Bring some good shoes and layered clothing for exercise and fresh air between sessions. We will bring our meditation cushions from the Centre, but if you prefer your own please bring it. Of course, chairs are also provided.

Please be mindful not to wear strong scents. Some people are sensitive to perfumes.


Retreat cost: $375
($395 after November 5)

Registration costs include:

  • 2 nights private accommodation
  • 6 vegetarian meals (beginning with dinner on Friday night at 6–we can cater to some dietary restrictions. Please advise us of your needs.)
  • 7 retreat sessions
  • access to the retreat facilities and walking trails

We regret that we cannot provide car-pooling due to COVID restrictions on sharing rides with anyone outside your COVID cohort (or “bubble”).

Cancellation Policy

If you cancel your retreat registration on or before November 1st, we will refund your event fee less a non-refundable 25% deposit. Cancellations made after Nov 1 are not eligible for a refund unless we can fill the reserved spot from a waiting list.  Exceptions can be made for serious illness, COVID related concerns or bereavement.
