Modern Buddhism

Modern Buddhism

A special eight-week study program

Wednesdays, 7-8:30pm
FREE introductory class on October 9
October 16-December 4

The Modern Buddhism study program is an opportunity to learn how to practice the Buddhist meditation path in a course that follows progressive instructions, week by week. The meaning of basic Buddhist views, how to start a meditation practice, developing confidence in the Three Jewels (Buddha, Dharma and Sangha), understanding the nature and potential of consciousness, karma and rebirth are all part of the first series of the Modern Buddhism course.

Registered students will prepare for each class by reading and contemplating assigned texts and be guided in a specific meditation practice each week to make progress in the development in concentration, wisdom and faith. This course is taught by Resident Teacher Gen Kelsang Dema.

Students who register for the full course become Supporting Members (GP level) for the duration of the course and may also receive recordings of the classes they miss. Supporting Menbers may also attend other classes for free or with a discount. The program will continue with part 2 in the winter.

Whether registered or not, everyone is welcome to attend these classes at any time as a drop-in student.
